Charlotte, NC’s South Park Magazine has featured Aiken, South Carolina in their June edition as a travel destination. The Willcox graces the cover in a series of fashionable photo-shoots at iconic locations around town; the Palmetto Golf Club, Whiskey Alley, the Hitchcock Woods, Green Boundary Club and Magnolia Street.

Once a winter retreat for elite Northerners, Aiken, S.C., exudes a sophisticated small-town charm.

In the South Park article ‘Southern Splendor’ Aiken is artfully (and accurately) depicted as a Southern town full of quirky stories and local lore.

The setting evokes a sense that not much has changed here since The Willcox opened in 1900.

Author Cathy Martin certainly captured the spirit of Aiken. Favorite pastimes of many Aiken residents hasn’t changed much since the days of the Winter Colonists… equestrian pursuits, golf, imbibing cocktails and gossip in equal measure.
